Power of Ghanaian Waist Beads.

Waist beads are considered as the women’s pride and power . It is popular in Ghana.

They are made of hard plastic glass or metal. The history behind waist beads is generally agreed that, the existence of waist beads dates back to antiquity as far back in the 15th century. In West Africa, the historians believe that the tradition of waist beads was popularized by the Yoruba tribes notably in Senegal and Ghana( notably the Ewes, Ashantis ,Krobo ,Ga, Adangbe among others.

Waist beads are mostly seen in market place, traditional shops among others. It comes in various colours which have meaning but varies from various cultures. Brown means earth, gold means health ,wealth, green for fertility, red for confidence, white for purity and truth, black for power and protection, and blue for loyalty.

As to why they are worn, it attribute to the definition of a woman’s waist. Some other significance includes,

1.It gives shape thus improving on the famine body.

2. It enable women to check their weight

3. It attract men thus it enables them to stay glued to their wives.

It’s benefits and significant meanings are true as confessed by many women and it is concluded as powerful.
